This is a picture of Old Cove, Woody Island taken in 1966. It was taken from the exact spot where Loyola Pomroy's tourist home (Island Rendezvous) is now located on Woody Island. Although many of the houses have since been removed it's still beautiful scenery, especially on a sunny day or a nice moonlit night. |

About to enter the harbour is the "Petite Forte", One of the CN boats that visited Woody Island once a week. It was always a joy to see the Petite Forte or any of the other CN boats that visited Woody Island. At this time many of the people would gather on the wharf to see some of their friends from other ports in Placentia Bay, such as Kingwell, Tacks Beach, Bar Haven, Spencers Cove, Davis Cove and more. The CN boat also delivered freight and at one time the mail as well, then there would be a big line of anxious men, women, and young people at the post office waiting for the mail to be sorted. |
| This final photo is of the last Santa Claus parade ever held on Woody Island. |
