Wilson Williams and Stanley Williams are two of the four men from Woody Island who served in the second World War. Wilson joined the 166 Newfoundland Field Regiment in March 1942 and served in Italy until the war ended. Stanley Wilson joined the 59 Heavy Artillery and served in Germany. |

| Abe Strowbridge, repairing his motor-boat. In this small area, like many, he sawed his wood, dried his fish, mended his nets, stored his fishing gear and repaired his boat. He was accidentally killed on Woody Island in 1970. He was a man loved by many, and well known for his great sense of humor. |
